Carlos Vela continues to Lead LAFC

The 2019 MLS season is now underway! With high expectations, the Los Angeles Football Club started their season by winning their home opener against Sporting Kansas City.

The first big headline of the season was LAFC's forward and Mexico's star player, Carlos Vela, will not be joining Tata Martino's El Tri for the friendlies against Chile and Paraguay.

Vela can now focus on LAFC and so far he has had a great season. Here's a breakdown of his performance game by game.

Week 1: Sporting Kansas City @ LAFC

With a 1-2 win, Vela had five shot attempts but didn't score against a strong Kansas City team.

Week 2: Portland Timbers @ LAFC

Vela was named MLS Player of the week after helping LAFC to their second consecutive win. He scored his first goal of the season and added two assists against the Timbers.

Week 3: LAFC @ New York City

Vela scores at the 43′ minute to tie the game in the first half, 1-1. After falling behind in the second half, he scored a penalty kick to close the game 2-2.
